Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot(1)

Born in Paris in 1796, to a bourgeois family Corot was unlike many artists before and after him. Many of whom were from humble beginnings and rose from poverty only as a result of their works and the subsequent profits. He was educated in Rouen and apprenticed to a draper until he was 26 years of age. He was said to have hated the commercial life and the use of gbusiness tricksh but remained at his apprenticeship for many years. At the said age, he adopted his art profession after getting his fatherfs approval.
